Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, the trends of working from home, online learning, and online entertainment have been driven, which also boosted the demands for broadband network installation. Due to the continuous emergence of new variants of viruses, the global pandemic keeps resurging, leading to the adoption of hybrid work models for enterprises, the acceleration of digital transformation, and the thorough change of people’s lifestyles. Remote working and learning have gradually become the norm in many countries and e-commerce and home economy have become popular. The pace of digital transformation has increased in the wave of the epidemic. In this context, many industries providing relevant services and solutions have also grown significantly. Due to the continuous demands for upgrading high-speed wireless network, the demands for the WiFi 6 / Wi-Fi 6E wireless network solutions for the high-speed transmission, large bandwidth, and low latency have also increased significantly.

With the gradual application of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), 4K/8K high-resolution image transmission, Industry 4.0, and various IoT devices in our daily life, users’ needs for low latency and large bandwidth are greatly increased. The more popularized 5G mobile network applications enabled additional transmission channels for the requirements mentioned above. Since the 5G base station requires a more powerful backbone for data exchange and backhaul to the cloud data center, coupled with the huge computing load that also requires appropriate allocation, the demands for high-speed switches (100GbE) and Edge Computing are further derived. In recent years, the upgrade of PON from 1G to 2.5G/10G in European and American regions, the deployment of optical fiber networks in emerging countries to replace DSL technology, and the upgrade of Cable Modem to DOCSIS 3.1, the trend of NetCom equipment upgrade is continuously on-going. In addition, thanks to the US$65-billion investment in the broadband network infrastructure in the U.S, and the EU’s setting of the home network speed at 100 Mbps by 2025, major telecom operators are actively promoting the upgrades of the 5G investments. In addition, NetCom manufacturers such as Huawei and ZTE are banned by the United States due to information security issues, the supply gap is expected to be filled by other network communication brands and manufacturers. SNI is also expected to benefit from the transfer order effect.

SNI has always been upholding the strategy of thinking outside of price competition, and actively and steadfastly facing the changes in the industries to grasp the key technologies and trends as the main R&D directions. In addition, we also implement innovative design and R&D of products and conduct quality management of manufacturing, striving to meet the requirements for the best quality to provide our customers with complete and excellent enterprise-level solutions. Besides providing complete solutions for hardware equipment, SNI also invests a lot of R&D resources in software development. Our self-developed mesh connection algorithm (Mesh) is applied to home Wi-Fi routers and enterprise-level Wi-Fi base station, forming a dead-zone free Wi-Fi system. This solution has been recognized by major global sales channels, and has obtained sales orders from developing countries, assisting these countries with jumping from wired network deployment into high-speed wireless network, enabling more people to enter online life. The network management application software includes On-Premises Management Platform and Cloud Management Platform, providing options for the different needs among all enterprise users at all levels. Meanwhile, SNI will also keep abreast of the trends of IoT and IIoT. The Internet of Things (I0T) is the new type of network concept that is commonly realized by a variety of technologies, including physical broadband network, high-speed Wi-Fi, sensing technology, cloud computing, big data center and so on. Therefore, in the product planning and development, the compatibility of products with various application of the IoT are strengthened to pragmatically grasp the existing business opportunities while making preparations for future needs. SNI raises the entry barrier with its technologies and quality and enhances its competitiveness of products with platform design.

In addition to the product development, SNI also sticks to the concept of sustainable development and insists on becoming a socially friendly enterprise. We continue to exert our positive influence in economic, environmental, and social aspects and fulfill our corporate social responsibility and obligations with specific actions and active participation in various public welfare activities and promotion of related projects. The projects included the STEP 30. All the employees at SNI donated more than 2,000 pairs of used shoes to people threatened by “sand fleas” in East Africa, providing protection to these people from red, swollen, and festering skin when bitten by the “sand fleas”. SNI also won the CommonWealth Magazine’s Sustainable Citizen Award- Rookie Award in the medium-sized enterprise category. In 2021, the Company also provided approximately NT$ 730,000 subsidies to encourage childbirth and childcare, and the amount of the subsidies increased by 56% compared with 2020. As for the ratio of weight of recycled waste to the waste generated in 2021, it reached 74.85%, a 3.61% increase compared with 2020.

In the future, SNI will not only continue to work on innovation and growth but also takes into account local development and demands. We will keep working together with our colleagues, suppliers, communities and other stakeholders to proactively targeting at the ultimate goal of sustainable development.
